A message from John Kilroy, Editor, Performance Racing Industry - the leading trade publication in US motorsports:

Thanks for inviting me to participate in the MIA's "Motorsport in the USA" Day. If the economic meltdown has shown us anything positive, it's that globalization has indeed taken hold. When a man can't afford to make his mortgage payments in Riverside, California, and, as a result, a Swiss bank announces it has some serious problems, and even Russia's economy falters from what happens in the US - it's indeed a dramatic new world.

Chris - you and the MIA were way out in front of this trend in motorsport, and PRI has benefitted from all of your hard work, creativity and global vision.

Great companies in the UK, like Xtrac for example, have seized this opportunity and produced extraordinary results. They have a line on their website to the effect: "Just about anywhere you find racing in the US, you'll find Xtrac" - that's quite a statement.

Well done to you all at the MIA.

Here are some of the ways the MIA helped the industry this week:

  • Helped a member find statistics relating to participation and employment in the UK Motorsport Industry.
  • Gave advice to a hobby-driver wanting to develop a racing career.
  • Helped a company find new areas of custom for their KERS.
  • Lobbied UK Members of the European Parliament to vote against removal of the UK's opt-out from the Working Time Directive.
