| Flatty Finally Breaks Through For Overall Street Stock Win... |
Release By: Speedway City - SM (SparkyFlags42)
Last night (Saturday 29th November) at Truckworks Speedway City, a great field of 21 Street Stocks were support to Round 5 of the Wanless World Series Sprintcars in front of around 5,000 fans! Due to running a major Sprintcar show, the Street Stocks were programmed for 3 heat races over 8-laps, where each driver got two starts. Darren Flatman in his black and green Flatman Mechanical Services VS Commodore emerged as the 'car to beat', as he drove well to win both his heats, and become the overall winner of the night's Street Stock racing.
Heat one saw Shane Howard take the win from position nine, from Phil Hayes, Mark Collins and Geoff Cook driving the Salisbury Auto Dismantlers/Truckworks XF Falcon. Brad Evans was fifth, followed by Adrian Wright, Norman Rhodes and first night driver Daniel Henningan. This heat saw a couple of bingles which saw six cars parked on the infield with only half of the race distance completed.
Heat two saw Darren Flatman start out of position seven and take then win from Phil Hayes, Brad Evans in the SA Pergolas Falcon and Tony Roffey. Ben Whitehead was fifth, followed by James Rainsford, lady 'leadfoot' Leanne Turner and Mark Collins. Three other cars didnt finish after a caution with 4 laps left on the board.
Heat three saw Flatty 'storm' away from pole to take the win, with the race going flag-to-flag. Second across the line was Scott Grant, with Richard passmore finishing a fine third. Fourth across the line was Leanne Turner in her purple and green XF Falcon, followed by Geoff Cook, Keir Doe, Tony Roffey, Adrian Wright, Ben Whitehead and Norman Rhodes. Only three cars out of the original 14 didnt finish the heat.
Overall, a top night of Street Stock 'Action', which kept the crowd 'entertained'!
Street Stocks next appear at Truckworks Speedway City on Boxing Night, Friday 26th December, again running as support to Wanless World Series Sprintcars.

Renmark Ready for SA Title
Release By: Robo
Next Saturday night 34 drivers are set to do battle at the 340 metre Riverland Speedway in the small South Australian town of Renmark.
Heading the strong line up is defending champion Anthony Beare.
Beare who has won the last two titles in 06/07 at Waikerie and 07/08 at Murray Bridge in an XF Ford Falcon will contend this year’s event in his new VT Holden Commodore; he has already tasted success and is looking to take the trophy home to Mt Gambier once again.
Beare’s nemesis and current Victorian champion Mick Dann will be another one wanting his hands on the trophy, Dann who has finished second three times in the chase for the South Australian title, 01/02 to Mark Lincoln at Murray Bridge and Beare at both Waikerie in 06/07 and Murray Bridge last season 07/08, with Dann also recently switching to a newer model Commodore he will be looking to go that one better.
Another favourite is the 02/03 winner Robbie Faux from Mildura, although Faux hasn’t competed in the Street Stock division full time for a few seasons now the Modified Production driver still makes his presence felt at the meetings he does contest in. Nations Best Prepare For Jam Packed January
Release By: Robo
With 2009 just around the corner the nation’s best street stock drivers are preparing for “Jam Packed January”. The first weekend into the new year will see the prelude to the National title with the Tasmanian State title at Australia’s most southern venue Hobart International Speedway on the 2nd of January with a couple of well known drivers already indicating that they will head across the water a week early to contest giving defending champion Todd Auton some serious competition.
The following week attention turns to the “Big Show” in the north of the state, the Australian Championship at Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway. With practice opening on Thursday the 8th, first rounds of heats on Friday the 9th and last round of heats and finals on Saturday the 10th, at this stage there has been an indication amongst speedway groups that defending Australia 1 Michael Hamon from Western Australia will be attending but we won’t know until official nominations are released later in the end of next month.
One week later and rounding out the Tasmanian leg of “Jam Packed January” everyone moves North West to the well known Bendigo Bank Arena Latrobe on the 17th for the MainSafe Street Stock Shootout, with a prize purse of $2000 for the winner it will be sure to entice the mainland drivers to stay for the extra week.
The Last weekend of the month the drivers make the haul to Timmis Speedway Mildura for the second running of the Street Stock Top Gun on the 25th with practice and Calcutta on the 24th. Having defending champion Daniel Barton selling his car to the Current Victoria 1 driver Mick Dann it will be an open contest for the healthy prize pool.
