Description:
Formula SAE at the University of Alberta - is a student vehicle project in which students manage, design and build a race car that will compete in Fontana, California, where 80 other universities from around the world meet and share their knowledge of automotive engineering.
We prepare a vehicle each year to go to competition, which involves a full year of design and a full year of manufacturing and testing.
It challenges us not only in design, but also in project management: the fabrication of a professional vehicle with a limited budget.
This project provides an opportunity for students to put their knowledge of automotive engineering into practice.
Students learn to work in a team environment and gain valuable experience in areas such as: suspension, engine and drive trains, thermodynamics, strength of materials, fluid dynamics, data acquisition, composites, testing, electronics, business and marketing, and project management.
