Description:
Western Canadian Ice Racing Association of BC - British Columbia - Cars On Ice - ( WCIRABC )has been operating for over thirty years

This club organizes ice races under the name "Cars on Ice". Races take place on frozen lakes in central British Columbia.

The most popular lake being Barnes Lake near Ashcroft and Cache Creek, B.C. The ice racing members come from all over the province and some from Washington State.

The Ice racing season starts shortly after the new year and runs for about two months assuming the lakes stay frozen. The Cars on Ice club requires at least 10 inches of ice before they will allow cars on the lake, although more is prefered.

Ice racing cars can be anything from 40 year old Austin Minis and Datsun 510s to modern Hondas, Nisans and Subarus. The tires these cars use to get traction on this slippery ice can be studded or not depending on the class being raced.

WCIRABC was originally formed by ex car Ralley (rally ) drivers.
